An exaggerated take on climate change

The Vision:

To create an installation that reminds us of climate change - because we all need that constant reminder. The reminder should be impactful and drives the message of change.

The Creative Vision:

There installation is divided into 3 parts.

Yesterday was full of hope. The surroundings are lush and green with potted plants and flowers line the environment. A handwritten print by Dayna C of Zainal Abidin’s Hijau adds to the nostalgia.

Today seems bleak. We are threatened by climate change due to our actions. We experiment with indoor farming and hydroponics trying to manage the issue of food security but is this really the way moving forward. Devices line the wall as it is the main form of interaction for us to consume information.

Tomorrow is up to us. If we do not take action and take things for granted, we will have nothing left. Everything feels bare as we have no shade from the sun. We are trapped in a glass box where machines print lifeless and soulless flowers.

The Realizations:

Building the idea

Over the course of 2 months, we built 3 sections and paid detailed attention to the aesthetics and environment. With our knowledge in engineering and structure, we chose the best construction that could be replicated once, disassembled and then transported to site. Everything had to be considered; from the color of the leaves to the positioning of the decorative items.
